Nakapan Phungephorn, MBA, CPA

MMA School Owner, Entrepreneur, and Business Strategist

Nakapan Phungephorn has over 30 years experience teaching, training and competing in martial arts.  He is a 4th Degree Black Belt in BJJ, a Muay Thai Kru, Judo Black Belt and is the Founder of BETA Academy, Washington DC's largest and longest running Martial Arts School.  He's helped hundreds of business owner's grow their organizations and his vast knowledge stretches across multiple industries. 

Nakapan owns the largest Martial Arts School in Washington DC.  BETA Academy is a 7-figure school in its 15th year of operation.  With over 650 active students in a 10,000 square foot state-of-the-art-facility, the school is open 7 days a week and offers 80+ classes every week.  He oversees a team of over 30 staff members to deliver a World-Class training experience in the Nation's Capital.

Nakapan is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), in the state of Virginia.  Prior to establishing BETA Academy, Nakapan was a managing partner in a successful Tax and Accounting firm where he advised clients on wealth building tax saving strategies.  

Nakapan holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), and a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from George Mason University School of Business.  Piggy backing off these accomplishments, Nakapan was sought out to manage the financial departments for multiple start up companies and help them grow to $10 million dollar businesses.

Nakapan is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai World Champion.  He has been competing for over 30 years and holds championship titles in multiple martial art disciplines which includes winning the 2025 IBJJF Pan-American Championships and US National Judo Championships.   He is also a Masters IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, former WKA Amateur Middleweight Muay Thai World Champion and a retired Professional MMA Fighter.

My Mission...

To share martial arts with the world!  I believe that martial arts is power to people and it has the potential to positively shape our planet. I've developed a three-part plan to make this vision a reality:

1. Offering World-Class Online Instructional Courses

Drawing from over 15 years of experience in martial arts, I am dedicated to providing top-notch online instructional courses. These courses are designed to cater to students of all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. By leveraging the latest technology and teaching methods, I aim to make high-quality martial arts education accessible to everyone, regardless of their location.

2. Building a Global Community

Martial arts is not just about physical training; it's about building connections and fostering a sense of community. Through my online platform, I am committed to connecting martial artists from around the world. By creating a supportive and interactive community, we can share knowledge, experiences, and support each other's journeys, making the martial arts experience richer and more fulfilling.

3. Empowering School Owners

I understand the challenges that come with running a martial arts school. My goal is to help school owners free up their time and resources so they can focus on what they love most – teaching and sharing martial arts. Through coaching, resources, and support, I aim to streamline the business side of martial arts schools, enabling owners to reach more students and make a greater impact in their communities.
